Dr. Abigail Matthew-Kusi is the founder and COO of Numer Medical LTD, a dynamic homecare and medical transport agency serving clients across all districts in Ghana. With a strong academic foundation, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music and Psychology from SUNY Empire State College, a Master’s degree in Sociology, and a PhD in Behavioral Health and Integrated Care from Arizona State University.

Dr. Kusi’s groundbreaking dissertation research was selected and published by the Ryan White Foundation in 2020. She had the distinguished honor of presenting her work while representing SUNY Downstate Medical Center—an institution recognized both nationally and internationally for excellence in medical research. Her research contributions reflect her commitment to advancing integrated healthcare, particularly for underserved populations.

With over a decade of executive leadership as CEO of a successful rehabilitation center in New York City, Dr. Kusi brings a wealth of experience in clinical care, behavioral health, and healthcare systems management. Upon relocating to Ghana, she launched Numer Medical LTD with the mission of collaborating with local professionals to develop a nationwide framework for mobilizing healthcare resources and improving access to care.

A passionate advocate for equity, innovation, and community-centered solutions, Dr. Kusi continues to lead transformative initiatives that bridge the gap between home-based care, medical transport, and digital health across Ghana.

Kingsley Nancha is a dedicated health information management professional with a strong foundation in GIS, medical statistics, public health, and research methods, thanks to his academic background from the University of Cape Coast. His career includes impactful work at Shai Osudoku District Hospital, where he honed his expertise in health data analysis and project implementation.

Driven by his passion for rural community resilience and health systems improvement, Kingsley aims to contribute to initiatives that enhance health outcomes in underserved areas. He is skilled in integrating spatial and statistical data for research purposes and communicates effectively through tailored applications and professional correspondence. Methodical and goal-oriented, Kingsley is committed to making a difference through impactful research and community-based projects.

Michael Sunny Nuubepuor is a dedicated Human Resources professional currently serving as the Director of Human Resources at Numer Medical LTD, a healthcare and transport services company operating across all 261 districts in Ghana. With a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Human Resources) from the Catholic Institute of Business and Technology, Michael combines academic excellence with extensive practical experience across healthcare, logistics, and employee relations.

He plays a key role in workforce recruitment and training, ensuring staff across the country meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. Known for his sharp interviewing skills and creative production style, Ato Kwamena Gomez has produced and hosted numerous programs that inform, inspire, and entertain. 

When not behind the mic or camera, he is dedicated to mentoring emerging talents and using media as a tool for positive social change. 

Numer Medical operates a coordinated, nationwide network of 100+ clinics, labs, hospitals, pharmacies and independent clinicians to deliver fast, consistent, and accountable care across Ghana. Partnerships are built to extend Numer Medical’s 24-hour emergency response, homecare, medical transport and telehealth services so patients get care wherever they are — from Accra to remote districts.

Core collaboration model (how it works)

1. Central intake & triage

   • A patient calls/uses the app/WhatsApp or is routed through a prepaid subscriber line. Numer Medical clinicians perform triage and determine the appropriate network partner (clinic, lab, hospital, or pharmacy).

2. Directed referrals & dispatch

   • The central operations team sends a verified referral and patient summary to the selected facility/provider and — when needed — triggers local driver dispatch or ambulance transfer from the district driver pool.

3. Real-time coordination

   • Care handoffs use standardized transfer templates (chief complaint, vitals, meds, allergies, urgent actions) and secure messaging/WhatsApp groups for immediate updates.

4. Follow-up & continuity

   • After in-person care, Numer Medical nurses provide virtual follow-up, medication reminders, and coordinate any additional lab work, prescriptions, or transport.

Technology & communication

• Shared digital tools: a lightweight, secure patient summary / referral form used across partners (EMR integrations where available; otherwise PDF/eReferral + WhatsApp confirmation).

• WhatsApp regional groups for rapid case coordination and driver dispatch (already used in district hiring/dispatch).

• Telehealth platform for virtual consults with network physicians and remote nurses.

• Central dashboard for case status, ETA of transport, and basic KPIs (response time, admission rate, patient satisfaction).

Quality, training & governance

• Clinical protocols & SOPs standardized across partners for common emergencies (malaria, hypertensive crisis, diabetic emergencies, stroke, chest pain).

• Regular training: remote refresher sessions, district-based orientations, and targeted workshops (e.g., sample handling for health fairs, emergency handover).

• Quality reviews: monthly case reviews, adverse-event tracking, and KPIs (response time, clinical outcomes, patient feedback).

• Credential checks and minimum facility readiness criteria for inclusion in the network.

Example workflow (one emergency case)

1. Patient calls Numer Medical hotline → triaged by remote nurse.

2. Nurse selects nearest network facility and notifies them with eReferral.

3. Local driver (district pool) dispatched; ETA given to facility and patient.

4. Facility admits/assesses patient; lab tests done in-network; results sent to Numer Medical clinician.

5. After stabilization, Numer Medical arranges follow-up tele-visit and home medication delivery if needed.
